the human mosaic

source

short lived, fleeting and ephemeral
are the dogmas upon which
you withhold your pillars on
and though you try with much persistence
to prove your idiosyncrasy
the thoughts in which you prevail
are but altiloquent,
like your beliefs,
which will shatter and
crumble,
the sudden loss of oxygen in your lungs
the cold grey touch of your hand,
you.
falling onto the ground.
because like yourself
they are derivatives of something,
someone else.
nothing is what it seemed to be.
because everything you believed in was a lie
a lie
a lie
a lie.
you're a mosaic.
and i am a mosaic.
we are all mosaics.

Once, when I was
about seven or eight,
I went to the ocean with my sister.
And the ocean,
big and blue,
thought her so beautiful
that it embraced her,
like an old friend,
until she too, became like a rock,
at the
bottom of the sea.
And I, passing by each day
in the morning,
felt the ocean’s dear hands,
pulling me in.
Pulling,
pulling,
lulling,
pulling,
Until I too,
was a rock,
at the bottom of everything.

Black Ink

She slit her throat
with a knife in one hand
and her baby in another.
And when her parents
came home, they cried.
And when the kids at school heard,
their faces turned pale.
And when the police came,
the parents were already dead.
The neighbors all shook their heads and said,
‘They were all lying there on the floor. The girl,
clutching her baby to her chest.
The man and woman with their arms
wrapped around their child.
What a shame. They seemed so normal.’
What a shame.
What a shame.
And all the while,
the blood poured out of
the baby’s throat,
like black ink,
spilled onto the floor.

and she spins stars into the sky.

Mood:happy

october wind
leaves in my hair
the little girl spins and spins and
s p i n s
weaving stars in the sky
until the pile of crinkly autumn leaves
fall at her feet.
fairy dust and glitter
in her eyes
the boy walks over,
 their eyes light up.
i can almost hear their heartbeat
bu-thump bu-thump bu-thump
hugs. laughter. kisses.
the world is full of beauty.
how simple love is. how beautiful. how kind.
but my arms are the only ones that will hug me.
so i wrap my coat tighter around my body
and walk away quietly,
undetected,
the sound of laughter drowning in my mind.
what about me
what about me

To drown is a beautiful thing.

Mood:inspired

These are but empty words
filling up the spaces between my lungs.
Empty spaces,
e m p t y ______________s.
And I once knew of a beautiful girl
and she had the saddest eyes in the whole wide world.
They could drown you,
drown you like the ocean.
And I once asked her,
"Do you like to hurt?'
She smiled at me
like the angel
she is and said,
"I love it so much that I would drown myself in it."
The ocean heard and thought she was so beautiful
that it gave her a big hug!
Embracing her in its arms.
To drown is a beautiful thing.

The American Nightmare

a poem by me. Disclaimer: The video was not created by me.

America, we are your mannequins.
You tell us to be perfect.
So we become your idea of perfect.
You say you have to be skinny.
So we starve ourselves.
We become skeletons,
just skin and bones.
To satisfy what you have commanded us to do.
You give us a fashion magazine and say,
“You must look like this.”
So we dye our hair until it falls out,
and paint our lips blood red
until your words are bleeding from our mouths,
and cut our skin open to look like something else.
America, you tell us to follow our dreams.
But somewhere a single mother of five
who gets paid minimum wage
cries herself to sleep at night,
because her only son has died
to fight your fight.
Somewhere on the streets
a war veteran who has given you
everything, sleeps on the cold stone concrete,
and wonders what will become of him.
America, you don’t care.
So go fuck yourself with your atomic bomb.
Because as long as you have your 50 inch
flat screen TV, your Caddie, you XBOX 360
and your little Louis Vuitton bags, you’re fine.
Right?
America, you are not living, you’re dying the American Dream.

The Truth About Drowning

She drowned her dreams
in the ocean
and walked into it silently
the stars now gone
from her eyes
the warmth now gone
from her heart
The sweet seraphs
cried for her
and the weight
pulling her down
Further into the sea
she walks
without an emotion on her face
Until she's covered with the water
and her light shines no more

My first poem in forever. Well, what seems like forever because it feels like I haven't written in forever. I like this poem though. It's basically about your dreams "drowning" and fading away from you.

Purity

Mood:happy
The first sightings of snow
in December
to cherish a new start,
a new day.
Falling, twirling, swirling
around me
like tiny white fairies
dancing in the air
so eloquently.
Church bells ringing in the distance.
Streets covered with snow.
Purity.
Then the cries of a child
who has lost
everything.
Blood stains the white snow.

*A poem I wrote on December 1st. Snow fell that day and I felt the need to write about it. Except at the end, I wanted to add something... horrible to make the poem more, unique. A surprise ending, persay, to the seemingly innocent poem. I hope you guys liked it. Tell me, has it snowed where you guys lived yet?

Mood:chipper

Through shattered glass
and broken flames
these tears they fall
from the inside
between dark alleys and
cold stares,
hiding, hiding, hiding
from the forbidden wrath
of society,
slowly flowing,
these frozen tears,
towards the open sea
where they are finally
free.

Ghost Girl

Mood:relieved

Ghost girl, she haunted these streets
by the shoreline,
singing her sad tune
for all to hear.

Beneath the stars was where she lived,
moving often from
place to place,
making wishes on shooting stars
that dissolved into particles of matter
that, would eventually,
float on into the universe.

She was a ghost, but
through her eyes,
you could see the stars.
Roaming in the mystical forest,
following that glowing light towards
who knows where.

Elusive silence.
Music from the archangels.
Gifts to us mortals.
Who know nothing of love.

when the autumn leaves fall

Mood:relaxed

when the autumn leaves fall,
i want you here, by my side,
watching the cosmic stars
spinning in motion forevermore.
we'll make wishes and create
dreams of fireflies above our head
spinning magic, magic, magic
in the air.

when the autumn leaves fall,
we can sit here by the shoreline,
feeling the waves crash onto our feet,
your arms around mine,
watching the sunset,
rays of crimson and orange.

when the autumn leaves fall,
let's dance outside in the rain,
you and me.
together.
playing in the rain,
feeling them fall down upon our cheeks,
while we, slowly, are falling for each other.

but most of all, when the autumn leaves fall,
there's no place I'd rather be,
than
in your heart.
forevermore.

The Sharing of Photos & Poems

Mood:inspired

I see myself in the mirror.
There's a beast looking back at me.
I've turned into something,
something that I didn't want to be.
There's a beast inside.
Waiting to get out.
But then You saw me.
And You gave me hope.
And You made me realise,
how beautiful I am,
and how lucky I am
for You to be in
my life.

You can tell she's been crying.
Her eyes swollen and red.
The girl on the ground,
who can't get up,
because of the world's weight
on her shoulders.
But the light shines down on her.
Bringing her hope.
He wipes away her tear,
gently whispering,
"You are never alone."

"If any man will come after me, let him deny himself,
and take up his cross daily, and follow me." - Luke 9:23

So I've decided that I won't be posting all of my photos on my photography blog. Just my best ones, and ones that have more than one in a series. Single photos like the ones above, will be posted on my main blog, followed by a short poem or caption to go along with it. That way, I won't be polluting/spamming my photoblog with random, single photo-ed posts. So yay! I'm back to posting (some) my photography onto here! Comments & critiques? And also: read the post below, please? :)

in which hope spreads wings.

Mood:inspired

i walk with withered hands
my feet on broken asphalt,
burning, burning, burning
against the floor of my feet.

the road ahead looks dark
and there are no lights up ahead.
there are only shadows
that grow darker with every step.

there are demons that follow me
wherever i go.
they tell me things.
things that i don't want to hear.

i'm cold and my whole body is shivering.
my feet burns against the warm asphalt.
they hurt so much.

no cars. no lights. no sounds.
nothing. deafening silence
rings in my head.
there's nothing.

up ahead. suddenly. there's a spark.
you can barely see it.

but i see it. i see it!
a tiny spark of blue light.

i start running. running towards that light.
i feel the demons disappearing into the darkness.
the light grows brighter.
my shoulders feel lighter.
and suddenly, i feel like i can fly.

It was many and many a year ago,

Mood:procrastinating

(photo: by o--tebem--o via. deviantART)

...In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love -
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.
And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulcher
In this kingdom by the sea.
The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me
Yes! that was the reason
(as all men know, In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we
Of many far wiser than we
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.
For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride,
In the sepulcher there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

(Poem: Annabelle Lee by Edgar Allen Poe)

Flutter

Mood:I have a cold. :(
I am a single dandelion
that bloomed in a
field of
golden flowers.
Dancing in the bittersweet rain,
whispering to you
in the wind.
Dance, twirl, come, it whispers.
Pieces of my soul
Fluttering
Away
Like the summer bird
that migrates in
the Winter.

What Is Hope?

Mood:artistic

"The past" - copyright © by Candice A. Anderson

Gray.

Black.
Dark.
The world has no color.
My face reads no expression.
The faintest traces of life are gone.
Life is gone.
Life is hard.
I don't like hard.
I like my dark, dusty corner where I don't have to do anything,
talk to anyone,
say anything.
I smell the dirt on my shoes,
the blackness in my heart.
It throbs. I forgot. I forgot it.
What is love?
What does it mean?
I forgot it.
What is hope?
Is that a thing?
Where can I buy it?
Where is light?
I need it...
here in my dark corner.

never again.

Holocaust
by Barbara Sonek
We played, we laughed,
we were loved.
We were ripped from the arms of our
parents and thrown into the fire.
We were nothing more than children.
We had a future. We were going to be
lawyers, rabbis, wives, teachers, mothers.
We had dreams, then we had no hope.
We were taken away in the dead of night
like cattle in cars, no air to breathe.
Smothering, crying, starving, dying.
Seperated from the world to be no more.
From the ashes, hear our plea.
This atrocity to mankind cannot
happen again.
Remember us, for we were the
children whose dreams and lives were
stole away.

Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Today the world will remember how evil humans can be.

In Tune With Mother Nature

If you listen for the songbirds
As they greet the summer sun,
And love the way the wind can make
The trees sing just for fun;
If you like to hear the ocean
As it drums upon the shore,
And imagine all the whales out there,
and hope they'll sing some more;
If you think of all the animals
As players in a band,
Each with a lovely tune to play,
All needed on the land;
And know that as a boy or girl
A woman or a man,
You have a vital role to play
In Mother Nature's plan;
If you honor every living thing
As a part of nature's treasure
You're in tune with Mother Nature
So let's all sing her song together.

Happy Earth Day, all.

The Square Root of 3

I'm sure that I will always be
A lonely number like root three

The three is all that's good and right,
Why must my three keep out of sight

Beneath the vicious square root sign,
I wish instead I were a nine

For nine could thwart this evil trick,
with just some quick arithmetic

I know I'll never see the sun, as 1.7321
Such is my reality, a sad irrationality

When hark! What is this I see,
Another square root of a three

As quietly co-waltzing by,
Together now we multiply

To form a number we prefer,
Rejoicing as an integer

We break free from our mortal bonds
With the wave of magic wands

Our square root signs become unglued
Your love for me has been renewed

*I'm not going to be online or on Blogger at all the 21st-23rd because our whole 8th grade will be going on a field trip to Washington D.C - should be fun! - however, I do have two scheduled posts for Earth Day & Holocaust Remembrance Day so don't miss me too much. (: I just won't be able to reply to all of your comments until I get back on the 24th.
