2011 New Year's Resolution

Mood:gleeful

Happy new year!

Last Year's Resolution:
  1. Finish writing my novel, Hope Is the Thing With Feathers
  2. Be more social (well, as social as I can get;D)
  3. Be more kind and courteous toward others
  4. Be more selfless
  5. Put others before oneself
  6. Learn at least 10 new things
  7. Be a better daughter, sister, and friend
  8. "To thine own self be true." - Shakespeare (This, I can say, was the highlight of this year. I would strike it through three times if I could!)
  9. Less talking, more doing
  10. Less procrastinating
  11. Be more active and less lazy

As you can see, I haven't completed the list... oh, how surprising! (Sense my sarcasm here, folks?) For #1, I started writing that in the 5th grade... and the reason why it's still not finished may be for a number of reasons: if the plot made any sense and were any good, it would probably be finished by now - it's not. (Every time I try to go back and finish it, I have to redo everything and I finally realized that the plot is crap. I wrote it in 5th grade and though it made complete sense back then, it doesn't now,; high school really sucks a lot of energy out of you. With so much homework, I barely have time to finish all of my homework and go to bed at 10:40. I barely have time to read anymore... yes, it's sad.

Numbers 4, 5, and 7... I guess it depends on how you perceive it. Others may perceive that I've always been kind towards others, or selfless, and some not. To me, I know I have been less kind since elementary school. Since then, I've been tired of constantly having to be nice to everyone, and too nice. So to some people today, they may still perceive me as being really nice (which, I am, most of the time), but if you're mean or I don't like you, I'm not going to sit down and be nice to to you. That's just fake and I pride myself on being practical and down to earth. To me - I haven't been a better daughter or sister, or put myself before others. I know I haven't. I can be a selfish person and I hate that. I really do. I think we all are selfish people, but some people have a better way of hiding it. To others, I may seem selfish, but sometimes I just feel horrible, because I know I can help out more around the house and be a better sister and daughter. I'm going to change that.

The last two numbers on the list: self-explanatory. :)

-------x

My 2011 New Year's Resolution
  1. Continue to get straight A's
  2. Help out more around the house.
  3. Be a better sister, and daughter.
  4. Be less selfish/put others before oneself.
  5. Take risks and have fun!
  6. Try to procrastinate less (...just try.)
  7. Exercise more, be more active and less lazy! (At least try, Candy.)
  8. Strive to be the best person that you can be. (and that covers all the fields.)
  9. Learn how to cook... (I know a few things, but....)
May this year bring lots of laughter, smiles, and joy to you and your loved ones.

Signed,

Shiver

Mood:accomplished

To do:

So I've been thinking a lot about what I should do for today's post because - as some of you may already know - this is my (2nd) 100th post after all (because this is my new Confessions of a Candyhol!c blog). I just came back from a run jog outside with my dad. I've never tried running before. Like, outside of P.E. I've always wanted to, though, but because I'm usually pretty lazy - not to mention the fact that it's very cold here - I've never tried. It was pretty cold outside (barely 10 degrees), but I liked it; it felt good. Note to self: Do this more often!

Random Fact #1: NeverShoutNever! is my favourite artist. [;

For my 100th post, I've decided to post a short piece of prose that I've written; nothing extraordinary. I just want everyone to know that have grown as a writer and a blogger from the first post that I've ever written. Of course, I have you guys to thank! You guys are all special & I hope you know how much you've all inspired me. And now, without further ado, I present to you: Shiver.
[Copyright © 2010 by Candice A. Anderson. All rights reserved.] ♥ That means no sticky paws!
I see Them. I see Them everywhere. They whisper to me in the hallways at school, Their invisible hands tugging at my sleeves on the bus, and at home, Their long silver hands dragging me over to their side of the universe.

"Come with us," They said. "Come with us to where we dwell and we will promise you everything..."

They tell me what to do, scouring through my memories. They tell me I'm stupid, ugly, worthless, and unloved. Sometimes They force me to do things I don't want to do.

But I can't escape. They're a part of me like branches are attached to trees. I can't run away. These thoughts - they find me and they say, "We want you...come with us, come with us..."

Their pale, silver hands, fingers thin and long - They reach out to me with barren hands, circling me until I suffocate.

There's blackness all around me.

Our final assignment for computer's class at school is to do a research paper. SNOOZE right?WRONG! Not when your teacher is Mr. Althoen - basically, like the coolest teacher ever! (Secret: He even lets us listen to our iPod... during school; PLUS we do the coolest projects in his class!) I'm doing a paper on Dr. Seuss, the best children's author ever! (At least in my opinion.)

I'm going to go take a shower so I guess I'll just leave this post with a quote from the ever-so-wonderful Dr. Theodore Seuss Geisel.

"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose." - Dr. Seuss

May all your dreams come true,

How do you spell happiness?

A Place Forgotten

(#3: Make someone smile.)

{image © SpyKate//deviantART}

There is a girl across the room;
her face is covered in a mask.
She once knew of a thing called happiness,
a place she has forgotten.
In her childhood, she knew of this place...
this place called Happiness.
But reality clouds her vision.
No smiles are left.
Now all she has,
is a simple, plain, mask.
But who knows?
Maybe you can help her remember...
that place called happiness -
just by giving her a smile;
maybe she will smile back.
Who knows?
You might find her there again someday...
that place we all know as Happiness.
