We Shall Fly

I want to be the bird that
carries you away into the air.
When the sky darkens and the stars
come out,
I want to lay there beside you
and whisper in your ear
and tell you secrets
of my past life.
I want to be the one
who takes you on a journey
of a lifetime.
I want to embrace you and fly.
Across the world and over the seas
with you in my arms.
We will say goodbye to the world
with smiles on our faces.
And then we will fly.
