Confessions of an Admitted Bookworm

Mood:bookish

If there's one thing that I've been doing a lot this summer, it's reading. This summer I've read Looking by Alaska by John Green, Catcher In the Rye by J.D. Salinger, some Chuck Palahniuk novels, a Frank Sinatra biography, an Audrey Hepburn biography, and several other books.

The following books I got from the library today:
  • Tell-All by Chuck Palahniuk
  • Rant by Chuck Palahniuk
  • On the Road by Jack Kerouac
  • 1984 by George Orwell
  • a Dean Martin biography
  • Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters and Seymour, An Introduction by J.D. Salinger
I wanted to get several more books being the dork that I am - I even made a long list of books that I want to read - but I guess I'll save them for some other trips to the library.

What's the best book you've read this summer?

I've been really enjoying the twisted style of Chuck Palahniuk lately, and I've been dying to read more of Kurt Vonnegut's work, as well as David Levithan and John Green's books.

So much reading has kept the gears in my mind spinning, and hopefully I'll be able to write more. As you see, I've been writing a lot of short prose lately, but I can't seem to sit down and write a novel. I started writing a novel once, that I started in 5th grade. I enjoy had several English teachers look over it occasionally, but the longer I got into the book, the more I realised that I started writing it with no structured plot in mind and the conflict within the novel made little sense at all.

I've been trying to think of a plot structure/conflict that I can use to start writing another book, but nothing seems to be working right now. Hopefully by reading, some inspiration comes to mind. An epiphany, hopefully.

I will be going to band camp on Monday, for a week.

Then school starts in September. I'll tell you more about camp, and my class schedule soon.

Much love,

P.S. Where are you all?! Has my blog become so boring that you guys don't visit anymore?
